Its getting very close to the close of this great year in music. I love using a word multiple times like that and getting so much meaning out of it. Dare I compare it to Matchbox 20's, "You taste like honey, honey. Tell me can I be your honey?"
I digress. The nominations are: Lenny Kravitz's Baptism is a gorgeous musical adventure. It satisfies the heartiest of R and B influenced rock desires while it continues to expand on where the Beatles left off in songwriting. Keane's Hopes and Fears shows just how much sound you can get out of a piano and is an endorsement for the return of the trio in rock. Muse's Absolution is an adventure through melodic hardrock that within a measure can energize you and bring tears to your eyes. Green Day's triumphant American Idiot dares to show how far a punk act can go if their producer takes them seriously. Maroon 5's Songs for Jane is motown meets pop/rock and has Justin Timberlake's rockin' babies.
These five albums are a must for any music lovers collection. All five are raising the bar on both what new acts must bring to the table and on what old acts must do to satisfy their fans.
Any other nominations from the readers are welcome although I may nullify them. You have two weeks to send them in.
Music rules!
*Addendum* The following are submissions from you, the fans: Jimmy Eat World, Kanye West, Barenaked Ladies, The Streets, Frank Ferdinand, and Arcade Fire. Since no reasons or even album names were submitted with these nominations they unfotunately will not be taken seriously in the race for a much covetted Jayro. But honorable mention on such an informed music criticism site should be accalaids enough...How the hell does one spell accalaids?
Well I haven't confirmed it with a take home test yet, but that special time of the month has come and gone. So as the title says, I think I'm pregnant.
Okay, after a little more reflection on the issue, both taking into account my gender (XY-Male), and the simple fact that one is unable to conceive on their own (yeah its been awhile - lay off fucker!), I'm not pregnant and could never be. But I'll tell you what I am -- I'm fixated on storytelling. Writing, writing, writing. Fiction, half-truths, you name it. I'm loving every minute of it and I hope you are too. Expect quite a bit of literature and a little less blog here at the jayro.com for awhile. Let me know if you dig, what you dig, and what just isn't doing it for you. And thanks for considering this a place to spend a part of your day.
I think she's kicking!
