So I never really thought about how hard making a "Professional Record" is. See one of the main problems is I am simply not used to playing with others which basically means I have developed a very bad habit of changing tempo during songs. This is no good if I want other instruments on my CD. So the solution...the metronome. Its taking some getting used to but I am developing an ear for the little click that keeps me consistant throughout the songs.
I'm also working on my kickers (industry lingo for bar by bar breakdown of the song). Though in theory you'd think I would know my songs well enough from the lyrics that I would not need such a breakdown, this is not the case. Since during recording we start with the guitar parts all I am doing is focusing on staying in tempo and playing the right notes. Well as we learned last Saturday evening in Halfmoon Bay kickerless recording results in left out bars. Left out bars means that entire sections of my songs were left out. My bad!
So its kickers and metronomes for me while I get ready for the upcoming pro-recording sessions.
Happy Fall!
