Let's get one thing straight. I am not ignoring you, nor neglecting this site. I simply have not had the required time to write an entry that would be both entertaining and that would adhere to the high level of quality required of blog here at jro.com (yeah right).
Well I'm back....And I'm ready to let you know, I can really shake it down.
Noteworthy updates:
Friday I was a moonlighter. I subbed a different class than normal so I had the joy of teaching history and language arts. Afterwards, admidst terrential downfall, I DJed the night away at the luxurious Hotel Monaco. Props to them. They were ultra kind and I was really impressed. So topping the Jro charts of San Francisco hotels, Hotel Monaco has taken the number one spot and looks tough to beat. The party wasn't too shabby either. Featuring a very young group that wished me to play a lengthy hip-hop block, this Friday event was my best to date. Transitions are becoming smoother, no mic feedback, quite a bit of audience interaction, and overall a great time.
Saturday Eric, Nichole, and I hit the ground running. I finally chopped my fro back down and picked up the very beginnings of holiday gifts. But it wasn't long before I was back in the Honda on my way to another DJing event. Despite being at The Four Seasons (an obvious highly ranked locale), this event was a total snoozer. I have no real highlights to share except that the average age of this group was somewhere between 40 and 50 and all they wanted was rap and r and b. Strange.
Sunday was super super music day. It began with our first official band rehearsal. The boys came prepared and it went super smoothly. We ran through all of my tunes and began work on some of Joel's. These guys are pros and its refreshing!
Afterwards I made my way to my new a cappella group rehearsal, Sabela (www.sabela.org). Their focus and energy were exciting and motivating. I think that this project will be a vocal reinvigoration and will expose me to some new styles of music. This crew is also super Pro.
So I've died and gone to music heaven. Everything is sounding good and progressing really well. However I've also died and gone to work hell. Tonight features my second straight weekday moonlighting. Though DJing is fun, I'm getting a bit exhausted.
Back to work....future's so bright i've gotta wear shades :)
