Alright first and foremost....The Band
So after a long and challenging search it appears the main players are in order. The lineup for the Band without a name is:
Joel Streeter - Rhythm Acoustic Guitar/Lead Vox
Jon Brandon - Lead Electric Guitar
Robin Bek - Keys and Vox
Jeremy Round - Bass and Lead Vox
A little bit about the crew. First off, clearly we are still missing our drummer. That search is still underway and may feature several different sit ins in the interim. Joel is a singer/songwriter who recently moved to San Francisco from DC to pursue music vigoriously. He writes well crafted Pop/Rock songs that have a diverse/ecletic sound and influence but he likens to Badly Drawn Boy. I find his music incredibly enjoyable and I am very excited to be playing on his tunes in the near future. Jon, who you should know by now, is a close friend and an amazing guitarist. He has been out in the bay area for over two years and has already been part of several different kinds of projects. It is difficult to categorize Jon's sound, so simply put, extremely versatile, tremendously creative, great energy and chops, and an invaluable member of the crew. Robin is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, guitar, keys, and bass. The top of his vocal range is incredibly impressive and his music knowledge is extensive. He sites Sting as one of his main influences and his songs often take on those sexy overtones.
And thus the Band without a name was born. Have suggestions? Please contact me with your ideas. A drummer looking for a project with great gigs lined up, a lot of talent on board, and a very committed group, look no further, contact me.
Alright, now onto my weekend. 4 events in 4 days meant moonlighting Thursday and Friday. So productivity and rest were fairly out of the question. Thursday I climbed aboard the Hornblower Bay Party Cruise. Beautiful ride and a great time. Definately the highlight of the weekend. Friday and Saturday were also corporate events. The rain made both somewhat hellish in loading in and out. Saturday I had a big scare because I misread the info sheet and arrived at the venue an hour late. But luckily the client had been misinformed and the cocktails were in a different room. Phew! Sunday was a beautiful wedding up in Marin Co. No one wanted to dance so I ended up playing the Hokey Pokey et al to entertain the children. A success....Anyway, long story short, a really tiring and fast weekend.
I'll tell you more about the book I read tomorrow and post Chicago photos. Also please notice all the new gigs up top....Yep thats right RED DEVIL LOUNGE BABY!!! And thats just the beginning.
Anyone have any thoughts on who I should vote for in the Mayorial Run-off? Help!
